"This Phillies team has IT'' That's what former Phillies great and 2004 NL MVP Winner Jimmy Rollins said via Twitter, after The Phillies took down the Miami Marlins to win their 7th straight game in dramatic fashion. Critics across the country have agreed with Rollins as of late as the Fightin' Phils now hold sole possession of the 2nd Wildcard Spot with a 1 game lead over the idle San Diego Padres. And why shouldn't they, this is best this squad has looked all season and this is even without the reigning NL MVP and Superstar Right Fielder Bryce Harper. The only question left now is will the Phils sustain this play through the remaining 2 months of the season.

But before we shift our minds to the future lets focus on the present, the present being the Phils immaculate win vs the Marlins in South Philadelphia tonight. Noah Syndergaard took the mound for The Phillies looking to prove that he is ready to step in and be the third big time rotation piece Dave Dombroski acquired him to be. And he did just that, through 6 innings he allowed just 2 runs on 6 hits. While not flawless by any means, Syndergaard is no doubt making progress and already towing the rubber better than he did in his time with the Angels. on the offensive side of the ball things were relatively dormant besides a Kyle Schwaber double that scored Bryson Stott in the 6th inning, the Phils offense struggled to get anything going through the first 7 frames. That all changed in the bottom of the 8th, when 4 straight base hits lead to a tie game for the Phils. And finally a JT Realmuto base hit to left would score Kyle Schwarber and give the Phils a fragile 1 run lead going into the 9th inning, where Rob Thomson would call on Seranthony Dominguez to shut the door and send 23,000 home happy. Dominguez would do that is succession striking out a pair and forcing a Lewin Diaz groundout.

This was yet trademark win and most certainly one for the yearbook. The Phils looked poised to go on and run and hopefully break there excruciating 10 year playoff drought. But to do so they will need to play another two months of great baseball, while going up against the likes of the Mets, Braves and even the AL West leading Houston Astros. Its safe to say that if the Phils want to break the streak, there best baseball may still need to be ahead of them. But for now as Rob Thomson said we got to take one day at a time, and that's exactly what the Phils will do as they look ahead to tomorrow when they will take on the Miami Marlins in the final game of this 3 game set looking to complete the sweep.

It sure feels like the same kind of chemistry as with a special earlier team J-Rol was on, with the Manager, with the fans (look at the attendance and energy!) and most importantly with each other.
