Whenever you are a first-place team in any sport and under any circumstance, losing a game is never easy. The fear of being overtaken by an idle team can build up and sometimes get to a team which can hurt them. Well my friends if you want some good news to take out of tonight’s loss, I do not see that happening to our Philadephia Union anytime soon. This team has exhibited one thing time and time again, that being a maturity to get through rough patches and stay on top of their game. This team led by Jim Curtin and veteran leaders such as Alejandro Bedoya, Andre Blake, and Jakob Glesnes will not let morale get low and they will certainly not allow, one well-played loss to a playoff team none the less get the best of them.

The game started off pretty quiet for both sides through the first 30 minutes. Then Fc Dallas would strike with a goal in the 34th minute by Jesus Ferreria, who would score on a beautiful play in which Andre Blake was given no shot to attempt to save the incoming goal. Soon after the Union would make their first sub bringing in Michel Uhre for Corey Burke who left the game with an Injury. Mbaizo and McGlynn would soon sub in for Harriel and Flach respectively after the half. The story of the second half was the Union’s lack of scoring chances, there are going to be nights, especially in this game when your offense just can’t get anything going at all and the opposing defense seems like an iron curtain, and those are the games you just can’t let get to you. Because the fact of the matter is it’s just part of the game and it’s going to happen, even to the best teams no matter what. The Union got a few chances few the final minutes and into extra time but nothing ever came of it.

I’ve said it before and ill continue to harp on the fact that you can not take these losses to heart. These are games that good teams can get over quickly, and the Union by every mean of the word are a “good” Soccer team. The number one thing good teams do is look to the road ahead, and indeed that’s what we do. The Union will face off against DC United in just 3 days’ time, a quick turnaround as the Blue and Gold head to the nation’s capital. Turnarounds like this are good, especially after a loss such as this, But for now good morning, good afternoon, and good night, and of course Go Union!
