PHOENIX ARIZONA - When the Phillies went up 7-0 late in the top of the 4th inning, many fans probably took a look at the look clock and booked it for the sheets. Well, it’s safe to say they’re going to be in for a not-so-nice surprise when they check the score tomorrow morning.

The Phillies fooled us all early quickly jumping out to an early 2-0 first-inning lead that could have been more. After a Bryce Harper double and JT Realmuto single that would bring home Rhys Hoskins and Alec Bohm respectively. Jean Segura would ground into a fielder’s choice, then get caught on the base paths to end the inning.

A Kyle Schwarber base hit and a JT Realmuto sac fly scattered between the next two innings would eventually see the Phils up 4-0.

In the 4th inning, Kyle Schwarber would blast a 3-run shot to deep and I mean deep right field making it a 7-0 Phillies ballgame. At this point the game looked firmly in hand as fans across the Delaware Valley began to head for bed seeing as the game seemed to be all but over at this point.

Boy could we have not been more wrong, going into the bottom of the 4th Ranger Suarez had been dealing and looked to be on his way to yet another quality start. But that all came to a close and everything seemingly came crashing down. As hit after hit came from the Dbacks lineup and soon it would be a 1 run ballgame headed into the 6th.

The Phillies would look to Chris Sanchez in the 6th to offer some stability and keep the Diamondbacks at bay. He would do quite the opposite being taken out for an equally as bad Andrew Bellatti halfway through the inning after giving up 3 runs. Bellatti would proceed to give up another 3, making it a nightmare 30-minute inning where the Dbacks scored another 6 runs making it 12-7.

The Phillies offense would not get a hit for the rest of the ballgame as the vulnerable bullpen seemed to bleed out over the course of the late innings, sending the Phillies down quietly at Chase Field.

I feel like I say it after every bad loss, and maybe it’s just the overreacting fan in me but this was one of the worst losses I’ve seen from the Phils this season. The fact they were able to somehow blow a 7-0 lead and then proceed to not get another hit after the 4th inning is terrible and I frankly can’t believe it. The Phillies now have to win tomorrow to have a chance of winning the series but it never seems to be easy out at Chase Field. It’ll be same time same place same channel for the Phils tomorrow night. But for now good morning, good afternoon, and good night, and of course Go Phils!
