SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - Coming into tonight’s matchup there were few “football experts” that picked the Eagles to so much as beat the Vikings, forget trounce them. But Jalen Hurts and the Eagles did what they do best, that being never listening to the critics, and then shutting them all up. Hurts lead the Eagles to an eye-popping 24-7 victory over the Vikings at the Linc tonight on MNF. That will undoubtedly put the entire league on notice for the Eagles from this point forward.

The best way to start any game is to jump out to the early advantage and set the standard. Obviously, that’s exactly what the Eagles did as Jalen Hurts marched the Birds downfield eventually rushing into the endzone making it 7-0 good guys early. While not long after Hurts would find a streaking Quez Watkins for a 53-yard touchdown putting the Eagles ahead 14-0 early in the 2nd quarter. However, just as it looked as though the Vikings may begin to claw their way back into the game after Kirk Cousins marched them down the field making it 14-7. Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense would come right back with a strike of their own as Hurts scored his second rushing TD of the day. This time from 20 yards out as he pinballed off defenders into the endzone. Finally, a last-second Jake Elliott field goal would send the Midnight Green into the half on top 24-7. While there may not have been any more scoring from that point on, the fun was far from over. The Eagles would proceed to intercept Kirk Cousins three times throughout the second frame. Darius Slay would be the main cog taking two away from the Vikings veteran QB, while Avonte Maddox robbed Cousins with a pick of his own. It was also great to see the Eagles defense play with the Vikings offense like a Cat with a Mouse. It really did show just how potent this defense could be if Jonathan Gannon pushes the right buttons.

It was nearly impossible to ask for a better outcome during tonight’s game, a commanding 24-7 victory over one of the top teams in your conference is a great tone setter for the rest of the season. This also has put the entire league on notice, everyone in the country saw that this Eagles team is for real. And you can’t argue with the results my friends, just remember that. But for now, good morning, good afternoon, and good night, and of course Go Birds!

Great to see the Birds doing this well, this early against credible competition, on both sides of the ball. Players and Coaches have truly formed a team. Way to change the tone of conversation on WIP! Lessens some of the pain induced by the slipping Phillies. There is time and there is still hope, I think.
