PHILADELPHIA. PA - The last time the Eagles beat a team 38-7 in the playoffs they lifted the Lombardi trophy only two weeks later. Now Jalen Hurts, Nick Sirianni, and the rest of this Eagles squad will look to have history repeat itself, as they await their opponent in the NFC Championship Game.

Coming into tonight’s contest, many concerns; ranging from injuries to the effects of a postseason bye week, plagued fans’ and media personality’s minds. With the Giants coming off a huge upset win over the Minnesota Vikings, expectations were high for a New York club that hadn’t made the playoffs in nearly a decade. However, tonight the Birds showed us what the difference between a good and great team looks like.

From the jump, it seemed as though there was no question as to who would come out on top. With the crowd roaring and the offense clicking on all cylinders to start, the Giants would be gasping for air by their second drive. Two consecutive TD drives to start the night were the major momentum swingers but the defense was not to be discredited as they got to Daniel Jones on more than one occasion early.

As the first half went on many were probably just waiting for the Giants to hit their stride and make the comeback we’ve been accustomed to this NFL Postseason. However, it never seemed to happen as Jalen Hurts kept the offense in the game for the majority of the first half and kept them on the field for nearly the entire second half. Time-of-possession once again proved to be one of the biggest game-changers for the Birds as they absolutely dominated the Giants in the category holding possession of the Football for almost the entire fourth quarter.

As for QB Jalen Hurts who came down with a stomach flu just hours before the kickoff and was reportedly “far from 100%’’ according to FOX sideline reporter Pam Oliver, Coach Sirianni had this to say about his QB1 and MVP candidate “Man, to have him out there is like having Michael Jordan out there for us, he is just as they tough as they come and I don’t think anyone else has played better Football than him this season.”. Hurts, passed for 158 yards and two touchdowns while, running for another on the ground. Though the numbers aren’t insane by any means, considering his injury concerns fans should be ecstatic to have Hurts playing at this level on the biggest stage for the Birds. While tonight’s win was unquestionably a team effort, it could never have been done without the contributions of Jalen Hurts who willed this squad to victory and at the end of the day will be the reason this club has their best chance to win their second Super Bowl.

The Eagles will now await their next opponent as the Cowboys and 49ers face off in Santa Clara tomorrow night, the winner of the divisional matchup will head to the Linc next weekend to play in front of what is expected to be one of the most raucous crowds this season. No matter who it is, Nick Sirianni preaches the same way “play for each other and play to win, it’s as simple as that”.

I missed the stomach flu element; that makes Jalen’s performance even more admirable. The team seems to be in a good place with momentum and positive energy, hunger…Looking forward to a good finish.
