SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - “And just as it seemed all hope was lost, there was light” That is kind of how it went for the Eagles on a rainy afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field. After getting out to a 14-0 first-quarter advantage the Jaguars would be left with no answers as the Eagles went on to score 29 unanswered points.
Jalen Hurts rallied the troops and got the Eagles on the board to start the second quarter, and from that point on it was all Philadelphia. As not long after a Miles Sanders touchdown followed by yet another score from one Kenneth Gainwell would see the Eagles to a 20-14 lead heading into the locker rooms.
Despite the stigma that has loomed over the Birds second-half struggles this year. The team produced well in the ladder 30 minutes coming up with some huge defensive stops including a timely interception by James Bradberry along with two, yes two strip sacks from Haason Reddick that would result in an Eagles possession, one of which all but sealed the deal in the final two minutes of the ballgame. While the offense, not wanting to be left out on all of the fun supplied the second Miles Sanders touchdown of the afternoon putting the Eagles ahead 29-21.
The team’s struggles in the second half, in particular with the offense have been the Achilles heel of this squad through the first few weeks of the season. However, we did see some major improvements from the late-game unit today, this is something I will certainly touch on during tomorrow’s Monday Morning Quarterback. But for now, wherever you are, good morning, good afternoon, and good night, and of course go Birds!
Good synopsis for a non-standard (if there is one) Eagles game. The contrast of QB ability regarding ball protection was prominent. It FANtastic to see a comeback in adverse conditions and great take-away advantage.
