LANDOVER MARYLAND - The staunch reality of the Philadelphia Eagles playing against Carson Wentz in a Football game would have seemed like something out of Madden back in 2017. However, it is now a reality and that means we get to talk about it…

There were mixed feelings on both sides of the football before the game got underway this afternoon under the gloomy skies of Southern Maryland. But one thing was for sure, that was the Eagles defense had been waiting a long time to get their chance to take a shot at Carson Wentz and they capitalized on it today in a big way. The Birds defensive front racked up 4 first-quarter sacks, and 9 total sacks throughout the game. Not to mention 2 forced fumbles, as the Washington line struggled to protect Carson Wentz.

The Eagles played the perfect amount of complimentary Football today as both the offense and defense seemed to be clicking on all cylinders. And when I say the offense, I mean Jalen Hurts and Devonta Smith who combined for 8 Catches, 169 Yards, and a touchdown on the day. This helped Hurts to a stellar line entailing 340 yards and 3 touchdown passes. AJ Brown and Dallas Goedert also got involved in the offensive jamboree as each tallied a touchdown of their own.

The Eagles commanding ball control and the poise of Jalen Hurts is what kept the Eagles offense in the game all afternoon. As for the defense, a struggling Washington o-line and some hungry guys up front had Washington on its toes from start to finish which gave the Birds the advantage from the jump. Now the Eagles will take the bus trip back up 95 to Philly as they prepare for their week 4 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Be sure to check back tomorrow for “The Monday Morning Quarterback” where I will jump into further detail and explore all the ins and out’s of today’s game. But for now wherever you are, good morning, good afternoon, and good night, and of course Go Birds!
