HOUSTON TEXAS - It has been 4,014 days since we could say this, THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ARE GOING TO THE MLB POSTSEASON. Across those 4.014 days, there have been some horrible losses, disgusting games, putrid plays, and above all else hundreds of broken Philadelphian hearts. But none of it matters anymore because the Phillies have won and they have sent themselves into the postseason.

A team dosen’t make the postseason unless they deserve it, If you are a fan and you are mad because of how this team played as of late, just remember they are here for a reason. That reason being, they played better down the stretch than their competition and overall the Philadelphia Phillies deserved this more than any other team that could have taken their spot.

We do obviously need to touch on the game here for a moment, and what a game it was. Aaron Nola carried a perfect game bid deep into the 7th inning and then had it all closed out by one Zach Eflin. Eflin, who has been through so much whether it being injury, demotion, bad play, or seemingly anything under the clouds, deserved this moment more than most. Kyle Schwarber and Bryson Stott were the big offensive contributors today, Kyle with his two home runs, and Bryson with another of his own.

I need to get a bit personal and say that this is the first time I’ve genuinely cried over a sports event. This team has been my life for the past 3 years and I wouldnt change a thing, the late nights up until 3 am watching them lose in the final inning to a crappy Dbacks team or blowing their 5th lead of the night to the Mets or Nationals. Whether it be the losing streaks or the winning streaks, I always stuck by this team because I knew one day it would all be worth it and it was.

The Phillies still have two games left with the Astros and if they are able to take them down along with a few Padres losses it could set them up to be the second wildcard seed and face either the Mets or Braves. The Wildcard series nevertheless will take place this coming weekend from Friday to Sunday and now all we do is prepare and pray. But for now wherever you are, good morning, good afternoon, and good night, and of course Go Phils!
