VORHEES. NJ - Chuck Fletcher and the Flyers kicked off trade season late Sunday night opting to send former 2017 2nd-round pick Issac Ratcliffe to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Cash Considerations, the team announced Monday morning.

Ratcliffe, 24, was the 35th overall pick of the 2017 NHL Draft out of London Ontario. Across six seasons in the organization, Ratcliffe recorded just 56 points (22 G, 34 A) for AHL Lehigh Valley, while appearing in only 10 games for the Flyers boasting four points (1 G, 3 A). Some disappointing lines for a guy who was once seen as an under the radar second round pick up for the Flyers with plus size and unwavering physical play.

At this point in his career, it dosent seem to far fetched to call Ratcliffe a bust, and seen as he would be on the books for nearly $900k in 2023, sending the former OHL superstar to Nashville for cash may not be the worst move at this point in the season.

Looking ahead, the Flyers now sit at a rancid 23-28-10 just a few points out of the bottom spot in the east. With the trade deadline looming heavy, it will be interesting to see what moves Chuck Fletcher and Co. will attempt to make come Friday afternoon. The club could certainly look to send a guy like James Van Riemsdyk or Ivan Provorov to a team on the cusp of contention in exchange for a couple of mid to early round draft picks, something that has come at a premium for the Orange and Black after the exodus that was sent to Carolina for Tony DeAngelo (another name being thrown around in rumors) last offseason.
