PITTSBURGH. PA - The Flyers fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins 7-6 as the goaltending left a lot to be desired.

Scott Laughton got the scoring started for the Flyers just a few minutes in making it 1-0 early though Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust would put Pittsburgh ahead 2-1 before the period’s end.

Tyson Foerster tied the game up for the Flyers just a few minutes into the second period, shortly before Rust and Emil Bemstrom extended the Penguins lead to 4-2. Travis Sanheim and Laughton would score back-to-back to end the period and send the game into the third period tied a four a piece.

The Penguin’s Drew O’Connor and Rickard Rakell made it 6-4 Pittsburgh early in the third, minutes before Cam York worked to shorten the lead a 6-5. It would be Kris Letang however who got a seventh goal past Flyers goalie Cal Petersen to make it 7-5 and ice the game with just four minutes to go. Foerster got one last goal for the Flyers in the waning moments but it was all for naught as the Flyers dropped one to the Penguins in the heat of the race for the Eastern Conference playoffs.

With the loss the Flyers move to 30-22-7 on the season and sit in eighth place in the Eastern Conference and third place in the Metropolitan Division. The Fly-Guys will be back at it on Tuesday when they take on the Tampa Bay Lightning back at Wells Fargo Center for a 7:00 p.m. first pitch.
