PHILADELPHIA. PA - The Wings fell to the Saskatchewan Rush 16-12 in South Philadelphia Thursday night as they could just never seem to catch up on the offensive end.
Clark Walter got the scoring started for the Rush at the 11:34 mark in the first making it 1-0 Saskatchewan. Robert Church and Jake Boudreau (08:30/06:02) soon followed up the Walter goal and made it a quick 3-0.
Mitch Jones (05:39) struck back for Philly but couldn't inspire much else from the Wings, 3-1.
Walter (00:24) then finished the period with another to make it 4-1 heading into the second period.
Mike Triolo and Ryan Keenan (14:28/13:47) both once again helped the Rush to jump on the Wings fast, making it 6-1 Saskatchewan.
Sam LeClair and Mitch Jones (PP) (12:41/03:52) followed it up fast for the Wings with an equal amount in the scoring column, bringing the tally to 6-3.
Zach Manns and Nathaniel Kozenikov (02:43/01:26) continued to hold the Wings at arm's length before halftime bringing the score to 8-3.
LeClair (13:20) would get his next on the night to open the second half and make it 8-4 Rush.
Mike Messenger (11:49) soon evened the field at 9-4 with his first goal of the night.
A power play would give way for a Ben McIntosh (10:29) goal to make it 9-5 Rush.
Nonetheless, the Rush struck back harder than before with goals from Walter and Manns (09:25/08:37) to make it 11-5.
Despite LeClair (04:19) knocking in his third of the night, it would be to no avail as Keenan (03:25) brought it from 11-6 to 12-6 in less than a minute.
McIntosh (10:50) got a shot at it once again in the fourth, sinking another to make it 12-7.
Church (10:00) got the Rush another off of the power play to make it 13-7.
Blaze Riroden and Holden Cattoni (PP) (09:00/07:33) attempted to draw Philly closer at 13-9 but as usual the Rush stormed right back and shut down any expectations for a comeback.
Bobby Kid III and Church (05:45/05:14) got back at the Wings with two more Rush goals bringing the score to 15-9.
Joe Resetarits (04:54) got his first of the night in the waning minutes making it 15-10.
Manns (03:42) got one off the power play to make it 16-10 before Cattoni finished the day off with two straight power-play goals (02:02/01:46) to make it 16-12.
With the loss the Wings fall to 5-8 on the season and will now prepare to face off with the Bandits on Saturday afternoon for a 1:00 PM face.
